The Mitsubishi A6M5c Type 52 "Zero" was developed in response to the more advanced American Hellcat and Corsairs. The improved version had an increased top speed of 15mph plus upgraded armor and firepower. Over 6000 units were manufactured during the last 2 years of WWII and the Type 52 was the mainstay of the Japanese Navy's fighter aircraft.
