Kharkov 1943 - Gelson Jorge Emerim
This is the third battle of Kharkov. Some SS panzergrenadiers supported by a Panzer IV Ausf G are in their way to recapture the city.
The vehicle is from Italeri and the panzergrenadiers are from Tank. The russian soldier came from the spare box. Hope you like it.

Thanks.

This is another grewat diorama by you. I aspecially like the white wash. And all soldiers have great detail. Great Job!! , John

Question? (April 10, 2008) - Johnathon
What do you use for your straps? I have used tin foil.

Thanks (April 10, 2008) - Gelson Jorge Emerim
Thanks, Johnathon!
Tin foil is what I use for straps also. It fits better than other materials and is easier to handle too.

Gotta luv those TAHK figures... (April 11, 2008) - Steve M
... and you have done them justice! Fantactic work, excellent scene. I love the detail- especially the busted / spilled sand bag. Is there a website I can go see more pics?

TAHK Figures (April 11, 2008) - Gelson J. Emerim
TAHK produces very nice figures indeed. I like the poses and details. This way the paint job becomes easier.
I have some of my dios posted around.

how to paint (April 30, 2008) - cem sarioglu
first of all, that is a fantastic diorama very professional...
I loved the way you painted the figures...can you tell me how you painted their faces and shadowing their clothing (I'm still learning)
again great work!

How to Paint (April 30, 2008) - Gelson J. Emerim
Thank you, Cem!
I'm not a professional but I've been around with modelling for a long time.
The figures were painted with a brand of local acrylic paint (for artisans). I have used this paints because it's very difficult to get all kind of modelling paints down here. I guess you can achieve the same effect using good paints as Vallejo, for example. The painting technics came from the Spanish Modellers. First a primer was sprayed. Then a base color is hand painted. Shadowing with the base color plus dark brown or black and highlighting adding white. As the paint used are completed matt it's necessary to apply some satin varnish to the skin parts. The leather webbing and wood are painted with oils. The helmets, gas mask container and mess tin were painted with a mix of Model Masters Gun Metal (acrylic) and Tamiya Panzer Grey.
Best Regards,
Gelson
